Like a one-page wine list or a seasonally-changing menu, there is something to be said for an impeccably well-edited shoe store. Smash carries an interesting selection of shoe designers and styles (and gets bonus points for giving well-heeled boys some love, too).  The sale section at the back of the store is a treasure trove of bargain finds that you will be bragging about for years to come. Minus one star for the prices -- you can get some of their selections for less at Neiman or on Zappos.
